What Is Wellness And Why Remains It Important?
How Wellness Is Important In Our Life, Wellness remains primarily in good physical and mental health. Because mental and physical health is so closely linked, problems in one area can affect the other. At the same time, improving your bodily health can also benefit your mental health and other domains of life, and vice versa. Therefore, knowing that wellness is an intentional, ongoing, and holistic approach to making healthy choices in eight significant areas of life functioning is essential.
More than a year and a semi ago. Influences on all aspects of student individual and relational well-being occurred in unprecedented ways due to the pandemic. The most obvious is to live life with precautions, masked and medically protected by the vaccine, but it has not left any well-being domain intact. Therefore, we invite you to reflect on what “Letting Your Well-Being Flow” can mean now with creativity, self-compassion, and a collective understanding of others. The intention remains not to suggest that we now have other things to do to feel better but rather that we have options and new and optimistic ways of navigating what it means to be intentionally and holistically well while feeling the impact of so much change and challenge.

Physical Well-Being
The pandemic has spotlighted how our physical bodies withstand not only general stress but also traumatic stress. Increased fatigue, difficulty sleeping, tension headaches, and body aches are common signs that we may be experiencing traumatic adjustment stress or ongoing stress related to COVID-19. In addition, the diversity among us means that we may feel different things differently in our bodies than the people we know.
Self-Care For Physical Wellness:
Consider new types of physical activities you’ve never tried or maybe something you’ve always wanted to try but just haven’t had the time for. For example, if you’re a runner, you might consider interspersing it with walking. If you are a walker, you might consider listening to meditation while you walk. If you don’t do anything, consider incorporating gentle stretches while you study. Having cheerful and curious chats with family and friends about their physical well-being can spark new ways of thinking strategies for ourselves.

Spiritual Wellness
A year ago, religious/spiritual practice took a dramatic turn when spiritual and religious communities began offering services such as preaching, prayer and meditation, and even hospital visits. Worshipers have mourned the loss of sacred space and collaborative practices, especially during holy seasons like Passover, Passover, and Ramadan, and at other times when the community gathers in solidarity.
Self-Care for Spiritual Well-Being: Explore creative ways to access spiritual/religious communities; participate in informal discussion groups on spirituality/religion via Zoom; consult with spiritual/religious elders for advice and support to navigate through this time; Consider ways we can find a spiritual community that transcends being physically present with others.
Social Welfare
For some of us. The need for social distancing can feel confusing and disconnected, especially if a large part of our self-care has been a social engagement. Humans remain biologically wired to seek connection and attunement. And also validation in relationships. While we may cognitively know the rank of upholding a safe distance and meeting others virtually, our human attachment systems struggle to feel less intimate, try harder, and exacerbate feelings of disconnection and isolation. Social lash of normality, to quarantine, to normalcy with masks, to quarantine, who knows. It can remain overwhelming.
Self-Care For Social Well-Being:
Consider whether discussing this with our safe supports or within safe relationships can be helpful. Having another person by our side when we feel confused and disconnected without comparison or judgment is the essence of social well-being. Perhaps during such conversations, we pause if there is a strong emotional response, showing gratitude when we would typically continue. At other times, greet classmates, creating technology-free times during the day. Maybe even decide, “Do I need some advice right now or do I want someone to listen to me? And then identify and connect.
Conclusion
Overall physical wellness encourages the balance of physical activity, nutrition and mental well-being to keep your body in top condition. Obtaining an optimal level of physical wellness allows you to nurture personal responsibility for your own health.
